Defense Attorneys for Officer Michael Slager State Chance to Interview Video Producer Critical

Attorneys for the former police officer state they been denied a chance to speak with Feidin Santana, the man who filmed the altercations with Officer Slager and Walter Scott. Attorneys Don McCune and Andy Savage argued that it preventing them fully investigating the case before trial. Santana, a native of the Dominican Republic, has slipped out of the public eye after doing interviews on national TV.

Charleston Lawyer Andy Savage at Center of Debate

Attorney Andy Savage currently represents the three survivors and families of five parishioners who died in the AME church shooting and is also suing the federal government over the sale of the gun used in the case. He is also defending officer Michael Slager against both the state of SC and the federal government.

42,000 officers asked to join lawsuit after police group drops Michael Slager from legal coverage

Police officers in South Carolina and eight other states could join a class-action lawsuit in hopes of getting back the money they spent to fend off allegations of misconduct. The suit, filed in state court in Charleston, came after the Southern States Police Benevolent Association refused to pay an attorney to represent former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager. Many in law enforcement have been said to have become unhappy over the association’s decision not to cover Slager in his pending murder case.
